![]() ![]() The game is a rogue-lite after all, and failure is of course “rewarded” with a premature end to the Uprising. The player should not expect any rewarding conclusion that makes the player feel good.įailure is perhaps the only story-telling liberty that the game takes though. Regardless of how well the player has been doing, the Uprising is doomed this might seem like a spoiler, but one of Warsaw’s (few) appeals is this. Along the way, the player decides how to disburse supplies and other assets, in order to maintain the momentum of the Uprising and minimize casualties. This cell is receiving support and supplies throughout the Uprising, though these sources will always be dwindling. This one so happens to be (supposedly) better organized – namely by the player. This cell is one of the leading groups, though there are implied to be others. The player is presumably the leader of a resistance cell (which is implied to be an old gentleman, but is never described explicitly in any way). ![]() ![]() Expect a lot of steely gazes from the protagonists.Īs mentioned already, the setting is the Warsaw Uprising. However, its gameplay is quite underwhelming and even undercuts what it is trying to sell. This game certainly will not try to present a different outcome. Specifically, it is about the Warsaw Uprising, an ultimately doomed resistance movement that was carried out anyway in defiance of the odds. The simply named Warsaw is yet another game with a WWII setting. For better or worse, the stories of World War II (WWII) are popular settings, mainly for the harrowing experiences of that era of total war. Wartime upheavals are stories that are intriguing – so intriguing that they would get into just about every medium of storytelling, including games. By Gelugon_baat | Review Date: May 28, 2021 ![]()
